I have a free idea for the Obama campaign that maybe someone has already thought of. Let me first say I really could give a shit about Barack Obama as a person; he’s as good as Romney for the “one percent” and Wall Street and is as poisoned by cash as any other Republican or Democrat our country’s ever seen. I prefer him to Romney however for two rather big reasons: I want him in office to shepherd the ACA, or “ObamaCare” into permanent existence and because (based on his last two nominations for Supreme Court Justices) I’d rather he fill the next vacancies than Romney. (See Citizens United.) That’s literally it. “Hope” and “Change” are campaign slogans and have never meant anything to me.

Anyway, here’s my idea: they should send camera crews around Massachusetts to find families and individuals who’ve benefited from RomneyCare. They should vet them and get them to record messages of earnest thanks to Mitt Romney for enabling them to get health insurance. I’m sure, in a state with a population that large, they could find parents of a young girl who was able to get coverage for her leukemia, a chef who no longer had to pay $250 a month for rheumatoid arthritis medication, and, say, a teenager with cystic fibrosis who was able to get a lung transplant without bankrupting his parents who work at Fenway Park.

So film them and their earnest testimonials and thanks to Mitt Romney personally, get some quality b-roll of the families enjoying themselves, edit it, add a little heart string tugging music, and then show it on TV and the web. The effect being what-in-Christ’s-name-are-you-doing-Mitt Romney, you-shockingly, unprecedentedly-weird-and-power-hungry-nut-job? You created RomneyCare, the template for ObamaCare, and then you disavow the great thing you were responsible for and go after your opponent in one of the more hypocritical and disingenuous ways any modern American can remember.

Anyway, if I were making this thing, there’d be no irony present IN the videos; they SHOULD be a thing Romney would be proud and happy to watch. So perhaps it’s too subtle. Anyway, this is a half-baked idea that I think would be fun to do and I offer it for the price it’s worth (ROUGHLY nothing) to the Obama campaign.

a cool thing that will never happen, because democrats
